A Global Leader in Wind Energy
Alberta, and Canada’s west, isn’t alone in pursuing the most cost effective, sustainable supply of electricity—a pursuit that widens the door for wind energy opportunities around the world.
Ontario’s new competitive Large Renewable Procurement (LRP) process is underway, with the next round of proposals being accepted in 2016. This represents a significant contribution toward Canada’s long-term energy plan.
Wind turbines are now operating in every Canadian province, as well as the Northwest Territories and Yukon, providing clean wind energy to more than 100 communities and accounting for nearly 5% of the country’s domestic electricity demand.
In the last five years, Canada has seen more wind energy capacity installed than any other form of electricity generation, averaging 1,275MW of new build each year.
