In this presentation, the Performance Based Maintenance Contract (PBMC) approach will be presented to reduce the cost of Wind Turbine (WT) maintenance while meeting the availability and performance requirements. The main aim is to allow the WT manufacturers to optimize design, production, and after-sales services. PBMC differs from CM and PM, as wind farmers compensate the service provider for the system performance, not the spare parts and repair labor. In this presentation, PBMC will be used to show the reduction in the operation and maintenance costs of wind power generation systems using InfraModex (IM) tool. The entire life-cycle cost of each WT and ultimately the whole wind farm will also be presented as well as the investment master plan for each year and the expected levels of service for each year. The presentation will wrap up by a comparative study based on commonly used maintenance strategies to demonstrate the advantage of the proposed PBMC approach in reducing the maintenance cost.
