According to a recent Lumos Energy survey, First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities are in some manner involved in at least 35 medium- to large-scale operating wind farms across Canada. And dozens more renewable energy projects are in the works. Any company interested in building a wind farm in this country will first need to involve and/or partner with the relevant Indigenous communities. Some senior governments now require Indigenous equity involvement in renewable-energy development. In this session, we’ll learn about looming opportunities and best practices to ensure productive, respectful, and enduring relationships.
