Tom has approximately 15 years of progressive environmental engineering consulting experience, including over 12 years in the wind industry. Tom spent 7 years with the Canadian Wind Energy Association as Director of Technical & Utility Affairs. Among many of his duties, Tom was also the project manager and lead for the ground breaking Pan Canadian Wind Integration Study, which he administered and managed from inception, through to its (near) completion in February 2016, when he joined NRCan in his current role.
Tom’s current activities are focused on grid integration and wind plant forecasting R&D; he is presently providing technical support for the US DOE led North American Renewable Integration Study and the NRCan led Regional Electricity Cooperation and Strategic Infrastructure Initiative.
Tom is a Professional Engineer, licenced in the Province of Ontario, and holds a Masters of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.) and Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) from Carleton University in Ottawa. When he isn’t at work in Bells Corners, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, gardening, kayaking, and tinkering with their off grid solar PV system.
